The Son of Man

“What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?” – Psalm 8:4

What is man?

Centuries ago David, the son of Jesse, kept watch over his father’s flocks by night, and having nothing better to do, he contemplated the glory of the heavens.  Seeing the moon and countless stars visible away from the lights of houses and other sources, the future King of Israel was able to see the night sky as it was intended by God, full of sparkling lights and mysterious depths.  It was at such a time as this that the poet-king penned the words of Psalm 8:4 expressing his wonder at the attention of the Creator on lowly mankind.  “What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?”   Read more…
