The Lord is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot. – Psalm 16:5
Have you paused today to consider that, as a believer in Jesus Christ, you are an heir of the Kingdom of God and co-heir with Jesus Christ? With the New Testament, Jesus Christ established an eternal covenant with His people that brings them into the family of God and grants them a title (Saint and Child of God) and privileges too vast to enumerate (Eternal Life, Heavenly Peace,Joy, and Righteousness). But wait, there’s more!
Out of His gracious love, God gives us the revelation of the Bible, the manifest presence of Jesus Christ and the gift of faith in the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. All these things are available in this present world before we even experience the full redemption and glory of Eternal Heaven. God does not owe us anything and he requires only our repentance for us to enjoy these blessings now.
In the end, our inheritance is too big to define in any understandable terms. The is nothing relative to the nature of God. Infinite in time and scope, the blessings of the Almighty are only to be appreciated now and forever.
